Corporate banking success story
Situation
HPB (Croatian Post Bank) decided to use Documentum as the main application platform for the implementation of core business processes. They want the bank to be agile on the business market, so the development of the new applications has to be quick. HPB is using ARIS as their process repository and they want the application development to be based on the processes.
In September 2006, HPB started business process design of one of the core processes – Corporate.
The case
In November 2006, Mola Mola began working with the HPB team to prepare the processes for the implementation in Documentum. The HPB Corporate processes are complex as they cover following products: Loans, e-banking, Deposits, Letters of Credit, Bank guarantees, Discounting bills, EFT POS and VISA Business Card.
The HPB processes were already well designed for the IT implementation so the business logic was left virtually intact and we could quickly start preparing the processes for transfer to Documentum.
The work
After a workshop on Mola Mola IDA implementation methodology, small team began work on the project in mid November 2006. This included the adjustment of existing business processes by adding Documentum related functionality and references and also decisions on the best ways to implement the process in Documentum.
Full functional and object specification were also designed, which was a milestone in further application development. All processes were transferred into Documentum by the end of 2006.
The result
In the beginning of 2007 the first prototype was shown – VISA Business Card, and the development team was able to rapidly start building the application while complete workflow was already set in Documentum. HPB is now able to instantly add process changes designed in ARIS into the existing applications in Documentum which gives them the agility they require. HPB can now quickly develop new applications and make changes within existing ones.
ARIS is a single point of maintenance, there is no discrepancy between processes and applications. HPB collects process relevant data needed for detailed analyses from the running applications, as it was defined during the project.
