Documentum
EMC Documentum is a comprehensive platform for managing the content (ECM). It is intended for the enterprise market, which means that it complies with all the usage criteria in organizations with a big number of users and extensive content.
The notion managing the content refers to processes and activities directed towards creating, reaching, managing, protecting, preserving, managing the notes, publishing, distributing, searching, presenting, reviewing and printing the content stored in the electronic form such as text, photographs or video and audio recordings. Generally, we can say that the basic tasks are managing the content, creating/inputting, storing, reaching and distributing digital recordings, as well as managing their life cycle.
Content Services
- Capture/edit services that automate how content is introduced to the platform either by batch loading, scanning or by authoring tool integration
- Library services to manage check-in/check-out, access rights, versioning etc.
- Transformation services that manage and automate the creation and management of alternate renditions, thumbnails, video storyboards and PowerPoint assembly
- Classification services that enable you to create manage and enforce taxonomy standards so you can capture all the metadata about a particular content type including group ownership, lifecycle, related workflows and then apply them automatically
- Search, embedded in the platform not only helps you find information in the Documentum repository, but also in multiple Documentum repositories
- Publishing and distribution automatically "pushes" content out through various channels from websites, to printed media.
Process Services
- Business process services enable you to design, monitor and manage highly flexible processes that can include ERP, AR/AP or CRM transactions, email messages and responses, Web Services integration, work activities and so on.
Repository Services
- Records and retention management range from full records management capability based on the DoD 5015 standard to server-side automation that requires no user interaction. Retention Policy Services is new for D5.3. It enables you to define retention policies that can be enforced automatically virtually invisible to the end user. It is well suited for companies who want to ensure compliance for content, but are not subject to government DoD 5015.2 regulations.
- Archival – Documentum provides a very powerful platform for archival of any content type including reports (COLD), images, messages, or SAP content. The archiving capabilities leverage the lifecycle management, storage optimization, security, and retention management.
- Policy Management – Built-in capability to define various policies that enforce storage use, retention content.
- Intelligent Storage – Capability to optimize storage use by defining policies that can physically move content files between various storage systems.
Integration Services
The ECM platform is standards-based. We understand that we need to work with your with your existing IT infrastructure we can surface our platform through authoring tools, portals, workspaces, dashboards and enterprise applications. We offer s series of integration services that enable that.
- EAI services that connect to ERP systems such as SAP (note: this is not the traditional EAI based on messaging technology, think about a higher level of integration such as Content Services for SAP)
- ECI services that enable you to reach out and leverage content sources within and outside of the firewall from legacy content management systems, outside sources such Lexus Nexus and FDA
- AIS provides seamless integration with your authoring tools from Microsoft office, to Adobe applications, to Macromedia to CAD tools
- BPI enables the platform to interact with other systems on process level
Captiva
EMC Captiva solutions automate the processing of billions of documents annually, quickly and accurately converting their contents into information that is usable in enterprise content management (ECM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), databases and other information management systems in a more timely and cost-effective manner.
Captive Input Acel is a platform for the automation of scanning and automatic text recognition (here in after OCR – Optical Character Recognition). It enables a range of large volume of documents with the possibility of distributed scanning, i.e. scanning in different locations. With the help of its modules, the solution enables different functionalities, for example the image enhancement of the scanned documents, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) and a direct export of scanned documents in the Documentum.
